Climate change damage could cause the world’s forests to worsen global warming in coming decades rather than mitigate it, according to a report by forest scientists.

In 2007, the UN’s emergency relief coordinator Sir John Holmes reported that 12 of the 13 major relief operations that year had been climate-related. This amounted to what he called a climate change “mega-disaster.”

The purpose of the Zero Carbon Caravan is to inspire, to demonstrate by practical action that one of the most difficult things to do without emitting carbon, travelling, can be achieved, and can be fun.

There is increasing scientific evidence that human beings are contributing to changing the world’s climate (known as anthropogenic, or human-induced, climate change).

We need a zero carbon world to drastically improve our chances of avoiding a runaway greenhouse effect that is irreversible.
